The other day I did a Zumba class at my gym and realized that a dance class is good for the brain. How did I realize this? It was because there was a lady in front of me who I would say was in her late 60s to early 70s and as we worked through the class, I noticed that she wasn’t moving her arms as much as she was moving her legs. As the class went on and I had more time to observe and realized that part of what was going on with her was the lack of neutron activity in her brain to allow her body to work her upper an lower body at the same time. I also realized for my own self that some of the moves the we were doing required upper and lower body coordination that I at times also struggled with. It was right then that I realized that dance - any type of dance - can help to keep the brain healthy.
When we are dancing/moving we are engaging both sides of our bodies and both sides of our brains to move. We can supplement with things like healthy fats, herbal supplements like Bacopa or Ginkgo as well as mushrooms like Lions Main to increase our brain health, and we can also move our bodies to stimulate our brain and at the same time feel good because any form of exercise increases endorphins which make us feel good. So - keep moving! Stay Healthy and Keep on Keeping On!!
