Are you wanting success with New Year's Resolutions?
New Year's has officially passed and you may have set some intentions. This is sometimes a disappointing exercise, and I have some light to shed on this for you, and some help. You need to realize that January 1 is not energetically a time of new beginnings - it was arbitrarily set by Pope Gregory in the 15th Century because January 1 kept drifting further and further away from the winter solstice. The new calendar is more stable and January 1 is always 10 days after the solstice. So, when is the REAL New Year? There are two important cycles here, and three dates to consider. 1. You could celebrate the return of the Sun at the Winter Solstice. This time marks the turning of the seasons and is an important marker in our lives. 2. You could celebrate and mark January 1, a convenient date on our current calendar. 3. Or, you could adopt the Vedic New Year, which happens Saturday, January 13. On this date the Sun Transits into the sign of Capricorn. In South India, they don't start any new projects till this date. The time up until then is used for getting rid of old stuff. Then on the 13th, they will literally take their old stuff into the streets and burn it! Now that's a statement! So if you could use a re-boot, I suggest you take the next couple days for resting and planning, and then get started on or after the 13th. The rationale for this is below. (I also give you permission to reboot as many times as you need, you are worth it!) Some of you may say, but the Sun moves into Capricorn on December 21!) When Astrology was new in the West, about 2000 years ago, the Solstice and the movement of the Sun into Capricorn DID coincide, but this will not be happening again for about 24,000 more years! We are dealing with two separate cycles here. So, why is the movement of the Sun into Capricorn so important? Capricorn is a very grounded earth sign, ruled by Saturn. Capricorn symbolizes success through hard work, and this is a great energy for starting new projects and changing habits. During the last month, the Sun has been in Sagittarius, which is very optimistic and energetic, but not grounded at all. It's a good environment for celebrations, and setting high expectations, but not so good for carrying them out.

Life is like Knitting
If you want to knit a sweater you go to the store and you choose your pattern. Then The wool, hopefully it excites you to imagine the sweater completed You then take out your knitting needles, and you have to pay attention to the pattern How many stitches etc. Most people that knit are getting pleasure out of creating the sweater. Eventually the sweater is finished, and you have a sense of pride and accomplishment in the finished garment. Yet you miss the process of knitting so you choose another pattern and start your next project. So think of life the same way. You choose your finished product. You get excited about planning the steps. You follow the pattern, either one you designed, or you use somebody else"s pattern. Then you pay attention to the process enjoying what you are doing daily. When your goal is met you take pride in the accomplishment. However you make sure you choose another project and enjoy the process of creating your life daily. Remember if you drop a stitch pick it up right away. This is so you don't have to unravel to far back. In other words focus on the now with the desired outcome firmly in sight. Enjoy the process.
